The DJI Mini 4 Pro delivered the most consequential upgrade in the Mini series' history when it launched in September 2023 omnidirectional obstacle sensing in a sub-250g drone. All previous Mini platforms had offered either no obstacle sensing or forward-only sensing with significant blind spots in the approach directions that collisions exploit. The Mini 4 Pro changed that by fitting four fisheye cameras covering the surrounding horizontal environment, two downward binocular sensors for landing and low-altitude positioning, and a downward ToF sensor for altitude precision complete six-direction coverage in a platform that remained below the 250-gram threshold.
The practical consequence is a drone that operators can fly with the confidence that larger enterprise platforms provide, in the complex built and natural environments that compact drones are most frequently deployed in, without the regulatory overhead that heavier platforms impose in the majority of operating countries. The Mini 4 Pro does not ask the operator to choose between flying safely and flying within the sub-250g weight class.
Alongside the sensing upgrade, the Mini 4 Pro introduced 4K/100fps slow motion, 10-bit D-Log M colour profiles, true portrait mode with 90° gimbal rotation, and ActiveTrack 360° autonomous subject tracking to the sub-250g category establishing a new standard for what compact camera drones should deliver at their weight class.
aerosmart supplies and supports the DJI Mini 4 Pro as an authorised DJI partner across 14+ countries with genuine warranty and DJI Care Refresh availability.
Sub-249 g design, 48MP imaging, 4K HDR video, true vertical shooting, ActiveTrack 360°, omnidirectional obstacle sensing, and extended battery options in one quick-reference table.
Previous Mini platforms could detect obstacles in specific directions the Mini 3 Pro added a basic three-direction sensing system but left rear and lateral approaches uncovered. The Mini 4 Pro's omnidirectional system closes every gap:
4 Fisheye Cameras covering the horizontal environment around the aircraft front, rear, left, and right detecting obstacles in the four cardinal approach directions simultaneously rather than in a single forward direction that leaves the other three unmonitored.
2 Downward Binocular Cameras providing the precise altitude measurement and landing zone analysis that accurate hovering at low altitude and safe automatic landing require.
Downward ToF Sensor (Time-of-Flight) delivers precise vertical distance measurement using laser pulse timing rather than camera image analysis maintaining accurate altitude data over featureless surfaces like water, sand, and uniform vegetation where binocular cameras have difficulty establishing visual reference.
APAS 5.0 Advanced Pilot Assistance System fifth generation uses the complete omnidirectional sensing input to generate real-time obstacle bypass paths during flight, enabling active avoidance rather than stopping in front of detected obstacles.
48MP 1/1.3-inch CMOS at f/1.7 produces the image quality that makes the Mini 4 Pro capable of professional photography outputs across travel, real estate, and documentary applications. The f/1.7 aperture provides genuine low-light advantage collecting more light per exposure than wider aperture values for the dawn, dusk, and overcast shooting conditions where outdoor photography becomes most rewarding.
4K/100fps Slow Motion was the slow-motion specification that previous Mini platforms could not achieve the frame rate that produces high-quality cinematic slow motion for the sports, wildlife, and event content that creators and clients request from aerial footage.
10-bit D-Log M delivers the colour grading latitude that professional post-production requires 10 bits of tonal information across the full exposure range, producing footage that colour-matching and grading pipelines work with effectively rather than footage that has been processed to a narrow final look at capture with no grading headroom remaining.
f/1.7 Aperture is the widest aperture in the DJI Mini series at the time of the Mini 4 Pro's launch the optical characteristic that contributes most directly to low-light sensitivity and the background depth separation that portrait and close-subject shooting benefits from.
True Portrait Mode with 90° gimbal rotation the camera physically rotates to 9:16 portrait orientation for native vertical content at full sensor resolution, without the horizontal-to-portrait cropping that discards the majority of the sensor's image circle.
Intelligent subject tracking, automated cinematic movement, time-lapse capture, and one-tap edited sequences help DJI Mini 4 Pro creators produce polished aerial content with less manual flight control.
ActiveTrack 360° maintains subject lock through dynamic flight paths while the complete omnidirectional sensing system helps preserve obstacle awareness.
This combination supports creative tracking sequences in complex environments while allowing the aircraft to respond safely to nearby objects and changing subject movement.
Learn More ↗Hyperlapse includes Free, Circle, Comet, and Course Lock modes for producing smooth aerial time-lapse sequences.
The DJI Mini 4 Pro's stable flight performance helps maintain controlled movement during long-exposure capture, supporting travel, landscape, architecture, and destination content.
Learn More ↗MasterShots generates a complete edited multi-shot video sequence from a single subject designation.
The feature automatically plans and performs a series of cinematic movements, helping solo operators create professional-looking content without additional production crew support.
Learn More ↗QuickShots includes Dronie, Circle, Helix, Rocket, Boomerang, and Asteroid.
These automated creative sequences deliver familiar aerial cinematography movements for social media, travel, lifestyle, and creator content without requiring the pilot to manually fly complex camera paths.

Omnidirectional sensing four fisheye cameras (front, rear, left, right), two downward binocular cameras, and a downward ToF sensor. First full omnidirectional sensing system in the DJI Mini series.
34 minutes with the standard intelligent flight battery and up to 47 minutes with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus.
Yes. The 90° gimbal rotation enables physical portrait orientation for native 9:16 vertical video at full sensor resolution.
The Mini 5 Pro upgrades to a 1-inch sensor (from 1/1.3-inch), adds forward-facing LiDAR, increases internal storage to 42 GB (from 2 GB), improves flight time to 36–52 min, adds O4+ transmission, introduces 225° gimbal rotation, and delivers 4K/120fps slow motion. The Mini 4 Pro remains an excellent drone at a lower price point for buyers whose application does not require these upgrades.
