Drone operations in Côte d'Ivoire are regulated by the Autorité Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (ANAC) under RACI 3009 (Règlement Aéronautique de Côte d'Ivoire relatif aux aéronefs télépilotés). The points below are practical guidance, not legal advice. Always confirm current requirements with ANAC or through Aerosmart's regulatory brief.
Registration / Identification. Every remotely piloted aircraft up to 25 kg maximum take-off weight must be registered with ANAC, which issues an identification certificate and a registration number in the form RPA-CI-[number]. A drone becomes eligible when it belongs to an Ivorian, a legal resident, or a company incorporated under Ivorian law.
Pilot Training Certificate. Pilots must complete theoretical and practical training at an ANAC-approved centre to obtain a training attestation.
Operating Authorisation. Operators need an AEAT (Autorisation d'Exploitation d'Aéronef Télépiloté) for aerial work, or a CEAT (Certificat d'Exploitation) for cargo transport, issued by ANAC and valid for 12 months, renewable.
Application Lead Time. The AEAT application must be submitted at least 90 days before the intended start of operations, with a complete dossier: request letter, engagement letter, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Security authorisations where activities touch sensitive zones, a registration certificate per drone, operation and maintenance manuals, and insurance.
Operating Limits. Operations are conducted between sunrise and sunset; night operations are prohibited. Reckless operation and dropping objects that could endanger people or property are prohibited, and restricted and sensitive zones require specific clearances.
