Long-Endurance Drone Platform With Power-Line-Level Obstacle Sensing
Engineered for Excellence, Designed for Versatility
Wide-Area Transmission and Command for Security and Government Operations Across Africa
Fixed wide-area transmission and command system designed to maintain stable video and control links where a standard controller cannot.
12-antenna array with automatic multi-band selection for extended coverage across long distances, obstacles and demanding environments.
Connects drones and fixed cameras through DJI FlightHub 2 to create one unified operational picture for centralised monitoring and control.
Aerosmart Africa supplies, configures and supports the DJI O4 Ground Station for authorised security, government and enterprise operators across Africa.
Security and government teams across Africa are responsible for long borders, dispersed critical infrastructure and wide areas of responsibility that ground patrols and standard drone controllers cannot cover continuously. The O4 Ground Station is designed for exactly this kind of persistent, wide-area work:
All deployments should be conducted by authorised operators and remain subject to national aviation, privacy and data-protection requirements.
High-performance RF unit. A high-output RF unit strengthens signal penetration and coverage, helping maintain a reliable link through dense urban obstructions. An optimised signal-to-noise ratio improves receiver sensitivity, recovering usable signals in complex electromagnetic environments.
Omnidirectional high-gain antenna. Twelve internal and external antennas with horizontal and vertical polarisation deliver omnidirectional, high-gain coverage, maintaining a stable link regardless of the aircraft's position for wide-area operations.
Automatic multi-band selection. To navigate congested RF environments, the station shifts automatically across sub-2 GHz, 2.4 GHz, 5.2 GHz, 5.8 GHz and other bands to bypass interference. Paired with the DJI Matrice 400, it can support a transmission range of up to 40 km under specified conditions; actual range depends on environment, obstruction and local frequency regulations.
5-system, 19-frequency GNSS. An integrated high-gain RTK module tracks 19 frequencies across five satellite systems, acquiring signals quickly even in urban canyons or under dense canopy and providing continuous, centimetre-level positioning to help safeguard flight operations.
In Gateway Mode, the O4 Ground Station connects directly to DJI FlightHub 2 over Ethernet or the DJI Cellular Dongle 2, delivering low-latency, high-bandwidth video. This frees the station from proximity constraints and can extend coverage up to 30 km under specified conditions, allowing a command centre to observe and direct operations remotely.
Signal Map for precise deployment. After a flight, FlightHub 2 uses flight data to generate a Signal Map that highlights weak-coverage zones, helping operators position ground stations more precisely and reinforce communication links for safer flights.
Virtual Cockpit for agile control. Within coverage, operators can use the FlightHub 2 Virtual Cockpit to remotely control the aircraft, override preset routes and respond quickly to multi-point tasks—valuable for command teams directing operations from an operations room rather than the field.
An IP67 rating protects the O4 Ground Station against dust and water.
The station operates reliably from −40 °C to 55 °C, supporting continuous, unattended operation across demanding climates ranging from desert heat to highland cold.
Proprietary lightning-protection components and a grounding design meeting the EN/IEC 61643-21 Category C standard help reduce the risk of lightning damage when the station is installed at elevated locations such as hills or transmission towers.
Fanless passive cooling and a self-recovery mechanism allow the station to resume operation automatically after power interruptions or software anomalies, reducing on-site reboots and maintenance visits.
In Gateway Mode, smart power management hibernates the station when no aircraft is connected, drawing only about 7 W on standby.
For off-grid deployments, the station can operate using DJI Power solar solutions or compatible third-party photovoltaic systems, supporting long-term deployment in remote areas.
Unified visual management. The O4 Ground Station integrates up to four standard IP cameras. Using ONVIF and GB/T 28181 protocols, it streams live camera video directly into DJI FlightHub 2 and synchronises native camera alerts, such as displacement detection, with remote pan-tilt-zoom control. This gives a command centre one centralised view that combines fixed cameras and airborne feeds across a site or perimeter.
Open ESDK and airspace awareness. MQTT-based ESDK 2.0 and a Cloud API streamline integration, allowing developers and system integrators to build custom, sector-specific solutions. Through MQTT, the station can connect to third-party Remote ID or ADS-B receivers, providing real-time awareness of nearby crewed and uncrewed aircraft and helping protect the airspace around fixed deployments.
Gateway Mode: DJI Dock 3.
Relay Mode: DJI Dock 3, DJI Matrice 400, DJI Matrice 4E, DJI Matrice 4T, DJI Matrice 4D, DJI Matrice 4TD and DJI FlyCart 100.
Relay Mode availability depends on 5 GHz frequency support; check local laws and regulations. Confirm the current compatibility list for your fleet with Aerosmart before ordering.
Wide-area and beyond-visual-line-of-sight operations, camera and sensor integration, and data handling are subject to each country's aviation authority, privacy and data-protection laws. Aerosmart supplies the O4 Ground Station to authorised operators and advises on compliant deployment; responsibility for lawful use, authorisations and data governance rests with the operating organisation.
The O4 Ground Station is eligible for DJI Care Enterprise, offering comprehensive protection, professional quality assurance, free in-limit repairs, fleet coverage and expert service, renewable up to the third year. Ask Aerosmart about coverage options for your deployment.
It extends the range and stability of O4 transmission for enterprise operations, maintaining video and command links across distances and environments where a standard controller may struggle.
It also connects drones and fixed cameras into a single operational picture through DJI FlightHub 2.
